My wife and I purchased a small home in North Vancouver about 30 years ago.  The house was built in the mid 50’s and was characteristic of houses built in that area.  Three small bedrooms, small bathroom, small kitchen, living room and dining room.  The downstairs was only partly finished.  When we purchased the house, we renovated the kitchen / dining / living room by taking out some walls and creating a fairly open concept.  For many years that was the extent of our renovations.  We raised 2 boys in that house, needing all 3 bedrooms. When the kids left to go to university, we decided to remove one of the bedrooms, use part of the space for a larger upgraded bathroom and to use the remainder of the space to add a large closet to the master bedroom.  We hired Chad to do this work and we went on an extended vacation.  Chad managed the job, hired and supervised the sub trades (plumbers, electrician, drywallers and tilers).  Chad was responsible for all the framing,  insulation, hardwood floor repair, purchasing material and cleaning up.  He did a great job.  His carpentry was excellent and his pricing was very fair, we came home to a great addition.

A few years later we decided to redo the back deck.  This included changing the roof line by adding a hip roof with glass to make the deck more useful and accessible in the rainy reason.  Once again, we brought Chad in to do the work and we went on another vacation.  Chad sourced the timbers for the new glass hip roof, replaced the old beams under the existing deck, put in the timber framework to support the new roof and replaced the old decking with new vertical grain old growth cedar.  He did a beautiful job.  Again, the carpentry was well done and pricing was very fair.

Over the years Chad has done a number of other smaller projects for us.  He replaced the downstairs concrete deck with a new slab, tore out the treated wood planters and replaced them with cement planters.  Laid new flooring in the basement and hung a new door to the furnace room.  He installed a wood floor, finished the walls and built a work bench in the old garage so that it would be utilized as a home workshop.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Chad for new construction or updating existing homes.  He is an excellent craftsman and an honest contractor, if he decided to return to the lower mainland, we would hire him again.    Please feel free to call if you would like more information.
